Judgement
Do we judge what others do? If so, do we judge too harshly? Even worse, do we look down at what others do rather than taking a long hard look at ourselves?
I’ve always said this to my kids: “When you point your finger at someone, remember that three fingers are pointing right back at you. Look at yourself first before you judge others.”
Even I need to remind myself of this and oftentimes, in the quiet of the storm, I catch God pointing all of his fingers at me and telling me to stop. I’m far from perfect and I certainly have judged others and that is wrong.
I’ve been judged for using my voice, using my hands to sign, or even how I sign. I’ve been judged for the way I dress, the way I talk, the things I say — the list goes on and on. What I need to remember is this: if I don’t like being judged, then why in the world am I judging others? It works both ways.
Jesus says this: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” — Matthew 7:1-1 NIV
My dear friend, I understand this struggle all too well and it’s a hard thing to swallow. But it is something we all need to be reminded of. We look at what others do when in reality, we should be looking at ourselves. The reason we don’t want to take a long, hard look at ourselves is because we don’t want to blame ourselves for doing something that is wrong. It’s easier to blame others and not worry about what we are doing that could be hurtful to others, especially in the eyes of the Lord.
Change can be good. Change isn’t a bad thing especially if it’s something God wants us to do. Change may be hard to grasp, but God does help us get through. He doesn’t give us something that we can’t do without his help. In the end, we will realize how close we have drawn to Him and that’s His whole plan.
Let’s glorify in Him!
